Past Robot Projects

Garbage Can Robot

This robot is build inside a small garbage can. I made it in the beginning of the 90’s, and the battery is not only flat but totally dead. It’s a robot with no CPU, but some other nice features, like simple collision avoidance with ultrasonic transmitter/receiver.The eyes is made of to plastik flashlights cut to fit inside the head and fitted with LEDs.Eventhough the robot has no CPU it has a “large” memory and remember all its movements and LED flashing for aprox. 30 minuttes.I can press “learn” on the IR remote and then drive around like crazy then press “end learning” and place the robot at the beginning position and watch how it drives around after memory. It also can say the time and date by means of a buildin wristwatch connected to an 1w amplifier. The camera-like sensor on the side of the head is a LDR for sensing dark/light.

K-bot

This robot is mostly remote controlled but has a OOPic controller build in for controlling some of the LED lights. It was a fun project build out of an old Nilfisk vacuum cleaner (danish brand) and a top from a garbage can. The robot has wireless pinhole camera, and a FM receiver with 1w amplifier that has connection with the circular VU-meter seen on front.

The robot can be operational for 6-8 hours with the 2 12 V/10A gel cell batteries fitted. The eyes are made of a pair of tabletop tennis balls with 10mm blue LED fitted. The pin-hole camera is fitted in between the eyes.
